When Attract seems at locs, we do not see something dreadful. We see class. We see regality. We see luxurious. And, in case you’ve bought the mindset of hairstylist Sherelle Holder, you see versatility. “You’ve people who find themselves not comfy getting locs as a result of they really feel like they’ll be caught with one coiffure.” That could not be farther from the reality, says the Maryland loctician and proprietor of Karibbean Kinks salon. “When a shopper involves me typically, they do not essentially have to indicate me a coiffure they noticed on another person with locs,” she says.”They will present me a braided coiffure or a coiffure on [straight hair], and I can recreate it.”
For Attract, Holder breathes life into our imaginative and prescient of locs, one which deviates from the Euro-imperialist gaze or Hollywood typecasting that paints all Black ladies with locs as Earth mama hippies. It is time to broaden the parameters and present the world that the kinds of ladies who put on locs are simply as diverse because the types you may organize them in.
